Show Notes

One Last Mile is a fictional story of a talented but slightly arrogant high school track athlete named Eric who was certain he would be snagging a scholarship spot at any University he chose. He routinely won races but didn't always take his coaches directives seriously.mIn his senior year everything changed after an accident that left Eric with a broken ankle, and haunting images of his friend Buzzy’s death. Buzzy was intellectually handicapped and Eric felt responsible for his death even though Buzzy was not supposed to have followed him into that abandoned home. Overcome with guilt, Eric left his home town of Brevard after his graduation to stay with his uncle for the summer. The summer turned into 2 years, and Eric didn’t make any effort to keep in touch with his best friend Mary, or any of his other friends and running team mates. Although he was told that he may not run again after the accident, his doctor ended up clearing Eric for running, but told him to take things slow and didn’t think that high level running would be possible again. Eric finally went back home to Brevard but realized that he had a lot of work to do to get his friends back, as well as any potential for a scholarship.
