Running Book Reviews with Alan and Liz
On Pace, by Matt Fitzgerald
On Pace is Matt Fitzgerald’s most recent book where he delves into pacing. He talks about the importance of pacing to get the most out of yourself, how good the pros are at pacing, why the rest of us are not so good at pacing, and how we can get better.
There are 8 chapters about pacing:
1. Why Pacing matters
2. The science of pacing
3. Why you suck at pacing
4. Pacing as self-regulation
5. The mind of a pacing master
6. Pacing in training
7. Pacing in competition
8. Macro pacing
The last 4 chapters are training plans that are based on effort (instead of pace) for 5k, 10k, half-marathon, and marathon distances.
Matt Fitzgerald is a Lifelong runner and endurance athlete. He is an acclaimed endurance sportswriter and has authored and co-authored more than 30 books, and written for many sports journals (Men’s health, men’s fitness, Outside) and websites (active.com).
